Ford Hospitality Suite at UEFA Champions League Final

The European branch of the Imagination Group contacted Digital Antics to request our services in facilitating a high quality chromakey algorithm (green screen) for the Ford Hospitality Suite at the UEFA Champions League Final in Istanbul.

Armed with a Canon XM1 digital video camera, a green screen set up and our tailored operator console software, programmer Craig Edwards set off for Turkey to mix with the likes of Pele, Bobby Moore and Laurent Blanc - albeit digitally rendered copies of them.

The set up was relatively simple: Customers could select their scene (which was a foreground/background combination) from a touch screen, which automatically setup the control software with the correct foreground/background. The customer then stood in front of the green screen and was positioned between the false background and/or foreground whilst observing a real-time preview of the final printed output.

The operator finally used the control computer to capture the image when the customer was happy. The final picture was then sent to a Mitsubishi CP8000 DW where either a portrait or landscape image would be produced. The image could have had a logo overlaid somewhere on it but Ford decided to opt out of this particular feature.
