Liquid Nightclub Show Control with Wings Platinum

This December, audio visual solutions house Touchvision came to Digital Antics to request a license for AVstumpfl’s Wings Platinum 2 as well as technical support services including programming, operations and support for a Pepper’s Ghost trial installation at the Stevenage venue of the Liquid nightclub chain.

The show rear projects HD MPEG-2 content onto a screen parallel to the ground, high above the stage. The projector itself hangs at twice this height and points horizontally at a mirror angled to reflect the image towards the ground. This reflection is viewed on a sheet of thin transparent material at a 45° angle to the audience. The resulting slick graphics appear to float in mid air, lending an almost holographic experience to the crowd.

Digital Antics’ technicians Paul Scullion and Jason Root spent many hours before launch and during the shows supporting the club’s technical staff to ensure that the three nightly showings ran smoothly. The triggering of the playback of the high definition video clips supplied by the client was integrated to run from the lighting console via industry standard DMX protocol. The installation was removed after a two week run folliowing its successful trial.

Paul noted that:

Wings obviously has a huge amount of potential and is a powerful tool. It is flexible and adaptive, having a healthy and diverse track record in both the US and Europe. Version 3 sees its official launch at ISE 2007 and we anticipate that it will contain many new and improved features.
