Olympus m:robe UK Launch

Digital Antics were contracted through Momentum UK to provide technical services and a bespoke presentation system for the UK launch of the Olympus m:robe, a portable MP3 player with a built-in camera and touchscreen interface.

Olympus UK were very keen to promote the unique feature of the m:robe that sets it apart from other portable music players - the ability to create animated slideshows of photographs set to music, known as ‘remix cubes’. A number of celebrities and notable photographers were sent m:robe units by Olympus to create their own remix cubes, which were then uploaded to the Digital Antics’ FTP server.

Digital Antics’ programmer Craig Edwards created a custom high-resolution ‘clone’ of the m:robe’s remix cube system which ran as a bespoke software application on a PC, complete with animated transitions closely mimicking those on the m:robe itself, and titling information for each remix cube as it was displayed.

The cubes were displayed on large plasma screens at the m:robe launch event at the Sketch Club in London. At the event guests were also able to select cubes from a gallery via a touchscreen interface and listen to the appropriate audio track using headphones.
